Monday 21st:
· Welcome at school, the school band played the Italian Anthem and 2 pieces. Primary school students danced “Tarantella”, the typical Sicilian dance, joined by Lower High school students who invited the guests to join in the dance.
· Coffee break in the teachers’ room
· Visit of the school
· Activity in the Erasmus classroom where every group of students from the different Nations had the chance to read poems both in English and in their mother tongue .Some power points were also shown.
· Lunch break at a restaurant near the school
· At 4 p.m. visit at the City Hall, welcome by Comiso’s Mayor, Mrs Schembari Maria Rita. She gave a book about Comiso to each delegation.
· Then group went sightseeing around Comiso: first they visited Diana’s fountain, then the Roman baths rests, then Santuario dell’Immacolata, Basilica dell’Annunziata and Chiesa madre.
Tuesday 22nd:
· Visit of Inxiraro’s Mill, whose owner is Mr Barone. The students were explained how the 17th century water mill worked and then they were invited to make homemade bread the way it made in Comiso. They used the “Briula” which is an old tool to knead the dough. Then both students and teachers had lunch at the mill.
· In the afternoon the delegation met at Pietro Palazzo which was an old monastery. They watched a power point showing the places they were going to visit: Comiso’s Public Libray, Bufalino’s Foundation and the Natural Science Museum. In the Library the delegations had the chance to see some rare 17th and 18th century books. In the Natural Science Museum they saw some rare fossils.
Wednesday 23rd:
· We went to Siracusa and there we visited the archaeological park (ear of Dionysus and Greek theater). We entered the Cathedral. We went on a boat ride, walk to Ortigia and visit to the Maniace Castle.
Thursday 24th:
· Manipulative activity at school. Students saw how to make handmade paper sheets. Then they worked in multinational groups and made the paper themselves.
· After lunch, the delegations moved to Donnafugata’s Castle a late 19th century building where a noble and rich family used to spend the summer. After visiting the rooms, the students visited the stone maze and each group won a book to add to their school library.
· The group went to Punta Secca where the famous Montalbano’s house is.
Friday 25th
The program planned for this day was suspended because red alert was decreed by storms and heavy rains. So, teachers stayed at the hotel and pupils stayed at home. But the Italian coordinator Francesca decided celebrate the final Certificates of attendance ceremony at the hotel meeting room and also the farewell party. We had got the farewell party at "Scornavacche" Restaurant.
